The short version

  • When you connect a Reddit account, you promise that you own it (or have permission). Compliance with Reddit's rules is on you.
  • Our liability is capped at the fees you paid in the last 12 months. Pre-paid credits are non-refundable except in the situations in §8.
  • US disputes go to JAMS arbitration in San Francisco (California law). 30-day opt-out available. Non-US disputes: DIAC arbitration in Dubai (DIFC law).
  • Acceptable-use rules are in §6 and incorporated by reference. Violation is a material breach.

Getting Started

Who you agree with and who can use the service.

01

Who you agree with

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are a binding agreement between you (the "Customer" or "you") and the entity that operates redditapis.com ("we," "us").

By creating an account, accessing the API, or using any part of the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1.1 Trademark disclaimer

redditapis.com is an independent third-party service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Reddit, Inc. "Reddit," subreddit names, the Snoo logo, and related marks are trademarks of Reddit, Inc., used here only nominatively to describe the third-party platform our service interacts with. Copyright concerns: emma@redditapis.com.

02

The service

We operate redditapis.com, an independent third-party API service that lets you interact with the Reddit platform programmatically using your own Reddit account credentials (the "Service").

The Service includes:

  • Authentication endpoints (including /api/reddit/login) that let you connect a Reddit account you own or are authorized to use.
  • API endpoints that proxy your requests to Reddit.
  • Account management, billing, and usage reporting tools.

The Service does not include:

  • Any Reddit-operated product or service. We are not Reddit.
  • Any guarantee that Reddit will continue to permit programmatic access.
03

Eligibility

You may use the Service only if you:

  • Are at least 16 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher);
  • Have legal capacity to enter a binding contract;
  • Are not located in, or organized under the laws of, a jurisdiction subject to comprehensive UAE, US, EU, or UK sanctions;
  • Have not previously been suspended or terminated by us; and
  • Are eligible to use Reddit under Reddit's own terms.

Your Account & Credentials

How accounts work and what you promise about Reddit credentials.

04

Accounts

You are responsible for safeguarding your redditapis.com account credentials. Notify us at emma@redditapis.com if you suspect unauthorized access. Each account is for one person or one legal entity. You may not share credentials.

API keys generated for your account act on your behalf. Treat them as you would a password. Rotate keys immediately at emma@redditapis.com if a key is exposed.

05

Your Reddit credentials and /api/reddit/login

5.1 You bring your own Reddit account

The Service does not provide a managed pool of Reddit accounts. You authenticate your own Reddit account (or one you are expressly authorized to operate on behalf of its owner) through the /api/reddit/login endpoint.

5.2 Your warranties

By submitting Reddit credentials, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are the lawful owner of the Reddit account, or you have express authorization from the lawful owner.
  • Your use of the account does not violate Reddit's then-current User Agreement, Content Policy, or API Terms.
  • You have not been banned from Reddit and are not using the Service to evade a Reddit ban.
  • The credentials were not obtained through phishing, credential stuffing, account takeover, or any other unauthorized means.
  • You will revoke the session through the Service immediately if any of the above ceases to be true.

Customer's Reddit credentials are transmitted to redditapis.com solely for the purpose of obtaining a session with Reddit; redditapis.com does not retain customer passwords.

5.3 You remain responsible

Nothing in the Service shifts responsibility for compliance with Reddit's rules from you to us. The Service is a transport mechanism. See our Privacy & Data Handling §10 for the technical detail on how we handle the credentials.

Acceptable Use

The rules that govern what you can and cannot do with the Service.

06

Acceptable use

Your use of the Service is governed by our Acceptable Use Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms. Violation of the AUP is a material breach.

The AUP, in summary, prohibits using the Service to:

  • Distribute spam, illegal content, or CSAM;
  • Harass or threaten individuals or groups;
  • Interfere with elections;
  • Create Reddit accounts at automated scale;
  • Evade a Reddit ban; or
  • Violate Reddit's User Agreement, Content Policy, or any applicable law.

See the full policy at /acceptable-use-policy for the complete list of prohibited and required activities, enforcement tiers (clear violations get immediate suspension; ambiguous cases get a 14-day cure period), and how to report abuse.

Fees, Refunds & Termination

How payment, refunds, and termination work.

07

Fees and payment

7.1 Pricing

Current pricing is published at redditapis.com/pricing. By using the Service, you agree to the pricing in effect at the time of use.

7.2 Pre-paid credits

The Service is sold on a pre-paid-credit basis. Credits are consumed at the per-request prices on the pricing page. Credits do not expire while your account is active.

7.3 Taxes

Prices are exclusive of taxes. You are responsible for all taxes other than taxes on our net income.

7.4 Disputes

Notify us within 60 days of any billing dispute. After 60 days, charges are deemed accepted.

7.5 Failed payment

If a charge fails, we may suspend the Service after 7 days' notice sent to your account email.

08

Refunds and cancellation

Pre-paid credits are non-refundable by default, except in the situations below. Credits are non-transferable.

8.1 Service-outage credits

We aim for high availability and issue good-faith service credits for significant outages, evaluated case-by-case on written request to emma@redditapis.com within 30 days of the affected month.

8.2 Fraud or unauthorized charges

Contact your card issuer for a chargeback, then email emma@redditapis.com. We pause the affected account, cooperate with the chargeback process, and if our investigation confirms the charge was unauthorized, we refund to the original payment method.

8.3 EU 14-day cancellation

If you are a consumer resident in the EU/EEA, you have the right to cancel within 14 days under the EU Consumer Rights Directive. For pre-paid API credits (digital content), the right is waived once you have expressly consented to immediate performance and begun using the credits. Unused credits remain refundable during the 14-day window only.

8.4 Mistaken or duplicate charges

Email emma@redditapis.com with the order IDs. Refunds within 5 business days of confirmation. Crypto refunds within 3 business days of approval to the wallet of original payment.

09

Term and termination

You may close your account at any time from settings or by emailing emma@redditapis.com. We may suspend or terminate access:

  • Immediately, on notice, for material breach including any violation of §6 (Acceptable use), any breach of §5 warranties, fraud, or any use that exposes us to a credible legal threat.
  • Immediately, on notice, if required to comply with law or a binding order.
  • On 30 days' notice, for convenience. We refund unused pre-paid credits for termination for convenience.

On termination, your access ends, active Reddit sessions are invalidated, and account data is retained per our Privacy & Data Handling page.

Service Operation

Availability, IP, and confidentiality.

10

Service availability and changes

We aim for high availability and post scheduled maintenance windows in advance where practical. We may change, add, or remove features. Where Reddit changes its platform in a way that requires us to change or discontinue, we may not be able to give advance notice.

11

Intellectual property

11.1 Our IP

We retain all right, title, and interest in the Service, our software, documentation, brand, and related IP.

11.2 Your IP

You retain all right, title, and interest in any content you submit through the Service. You grant us a limited license to process that content solely to provide the Service.

11.3 Feedback

Feedback you give us is granted to us under a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license.

12

Confidentiality

Each party will use the other's Confidential Information only to perform under these Terms, protect it with reasonable care, and not disclose it to any third party except to employees, contractors, and advisors who need to know and are bound by confidentiality. Confidentiality survives for three years after termination.

13

Privacy

Our handling of personal data is governed by our Privacy & Data Handling page, which is incorporated by reference.

Legal Protections

Indemnification, liability cap, and warranty disclaimer.

14

Indemnification

You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless redditapis.com, our affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any third-party claim arising out of: your use of the Service; breach of these Terms or §6 (Acceptable use); breach of §5 warranties; violation of any applicable law including Reddit's User Agreement; content you submit; or infringement of any third-party right.

15

Limitation of liability

Except for liabilities that cannot be limited under applicable law, each party's total cumulative liability arising out of or related to these Terms will not exceed the total fees you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.

Neither party will be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility.

These caps do not apply to: your obligation to pay fees; your indemnification obligations under §14; either party's breach of confidentiality under §12; either party's violation of the other's IP rights; or liabilities arising from a party's gross negligence, willful misconduct, or fraud.

16

Warranty disclaimer

Except as expressly stated in these Terms, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

We do not warrant that the Service will continue to interoperate with Reddit, that Reddit will not change its platform, or that your use of your own Reddit account through the Service will comply with Reddit's current or future policies.

We do not currently carry Tech-E&O insurance. We disclose this transparently. The limitation of liability in §15 reflects the absence of insurance as part of the bargain.

Disputes & Governing Law

Where disputes go and what law applies.

17

Governing law

17.1 US-resident customers

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.

17.2 Non-US customers

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), United Arab Emirates.

18

Dispute resolution

18.1 Informal resolution first

Email emma@redditapis.com with a written description of the dispute and your proposed resolution. We respond within 30 days. If we cannot resolve it within 60 days, either party may proceed.

18.2 Arbitration, US-resident customers

Any dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules (or, if the amount exceeds $250,000, the Comprehensive Rules), held in San Francisco, California, before a single arbitrator.

Class action waiver: you and we each waive any right to assert claims as a representative or member of a class or in a private attorney-general capacity.

30-day opt-out: Email emma@redditapis.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms with the statement "I opt out of the arbitration agreement."

Either party may bring an individual action in small-claims court for disputes within that court's jurisdiction.

18.3 Arbitration, non-US customers

Disputes shall be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration under the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) Rules. Seat: DIFC. Number of arbitrators: one. Language: English.

18.4 Time limit

Any claim must be filed within one (1) year after the claim accrued, or it is permanently barred, except where the time limit is unenforceable under applicable law.

General

The remaining provisions.

19

Force majeure

Neither party is liable for failure to perform (other than payment obligations) caused by an event beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, pandemic, government action, internet backbone failure, large-scale subprocessor outage, or Reddit-side platform change.

20

General

  • Entire agreement: these Terms (including the Privacy & Data Handling page and any order forms) supersede any prior agreement on the subject matter.
  • No waiver: failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of the right to enforce it later.
  • Severability: if any provision is held unenforceable, the remainder remains in full force.
  • No third-party beneficiaries.
  • Independent contractors. Nothing creates a partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship.
  • Language: the English version controls.
  • Electronic acceptance has the same legal effect as a wet signature.
  • Assignment: you may not assign these Terms without our written consent except in a merger or sale of substantially all assets. We may assign to an affiliate or successor.
21

Changes to these Terms

For material changes, we give at least 30 days' notice by email to active customers and keep the prior version at /legal/archive/terms-<YYYY-MM-DD>.html. Your continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept, you may close your account before the effective date and we will refund unused pre-paid credits.
